A writer, producer, game designer and filmmaker, Patrick has grown Xenophile Media into an internationally-renowned leader in television innovation. His productions have won accolades at the Emmy, Gemini, Banff World Television Festival, SXSW, FITC and Canadian New Media Awards. Patrick has also served as an industry consultant to the Ontario Media Development Corporation and was previously senior producer at ExtendMedia where he worked with clients such as Rogers, Corus, Alliance Atlantis, CBC, @Home and Wolf Films. While there, he launched the first iTV series on Canadian television for which he was recognized as Producer of the Year by the Canadian New Media Awards.

Patrick’s documentary credits include films for CBC, IFC and Bravo! His published writing credits span media theory to animated TV series and a feature film co-written with author Carol Shields. He is a frequent speaker and commentator on media with recent appearances at IDFA, Sunny Side of the Doc, the Banff TV Festival and the American Film Institute.

Patrick graduated from the Film Department of York University and the Interactive Project Lab of the Banff Centre, Canadian Film Centre and l’Institut national de l’image et du son.

A filmmaker and producer with an extensive background in documentary film production and interactive media, Thomas Wallner is a recipient of numerous awards including five Gemini nominations, two Gemini Awards and two Emmys.

Most recently Thomas conceived and wrote the award winning documentary Mozartballs and recently wrote the screenplay for the documentary Inside Hana’s Suitcase, based on an internationally best-selling children’s book, to be released in Canadian and international cinemas in 2008/9.

Thomas is also producing and directing several documentaries including, an HD feature production on the Tropicana Cabaret in Havana, commissioned by the Documentary Channel, Sundance Channel, Showtime Networks, ARTE France and NDR.


Among recent production credits, Thomas developed a story concept on Restorative Justice for the National Film Board of Canada / Canadian Film Centre interactive feature film project Late Fragment.
Thomas also brought his expertise to the creation of the online documentary Beethoven’s Hair, which accompanied the feature film of the same title for which Thomas won a Gemini Award for writing.
Prior to founding Xenophile, Thomas worked as a producer at Toronto’s ExtendMedia where he was responsible for the creative vision, financing, planning and execution of a broad range of acclaimed interactive TV, web and CD-ROM projects for clients such as Ford, Alliance Atlantis and PBS. Together with Patrick Crowe, Thomas was responsible for defining and creating all that company’s best known convergent media productions.
For the past sixteen years, Thomas has had an ongoing creative partnership with Rhombus Media’s Larry Weinstein. Together they have made a number of internationally acclaimed films that have been broadcast in more than 30 countries, including My War Years: Arnold Schoenberg, Solidarity Song: The Hanns Eisler Story, Beethoven's Hair and Mozartballs.
